With only four ingredients, these homemade Ferrero Rocher-style treats are hard to resist. The flavor is remarkably close to the original and the process is fast. You can make them whenever a craving strikes—often late at night for many of us.

Ferrero Rocher is one of the most popular chocolate confections worldwide. They turn up at birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and as little extras tucked into larger gifts. The only downside for many is the cost—quality boxed chocolates can be pricey. Making them at home can be slightly cheaper, and it gives you the flexibility to prepare them anytime you want.

How to make Ferrero Rocher

The method is straightforward and quick: combine the filling ingredients, shape into balls, chill briefly, then coat in melted chocolate. I usually roll mine a little larger than store-bought ones and get about 12 generously sized treats, but you can make them any size you prefer.

Ingredients

  • 100 grams Wafer Hazelnut Biscuits crushed ( 3.5 oz )
  • 150 grams Hazelnuts roasted for 8 minutes, cooled and peeled, finely chopped ( 5.2 oz )
  • 200 grams Nutella 7 oz
  • 150 – 250 grams Milk or Dark Chocolate for coating 5.2 – 7 oz

Instructions

  • Combine the crushed wafer biscuits, chopped hazelnuts and Nutella in a medium mixing bowl. Mix until evenly combined and shape into balls sized to your preference. If the mixture feels too soft to form balls, refrigerate a few minutes to firm it up. Arrange the balls on a baking sheet lined with wax paper and chill for 10 minutes.
  • Melt the coating chocolate, dip each chilled ball to fully coat, then place back on the wax paper. Chill for another 2–3 minutes until the chocolate sets.
