Moist Banana Chocolate Chip Bread + Exclusive Kraft Coupons at Target

When it comes to my favorite baked treats, breakfast breads always rank near the top. I enjoy them all—from pumpkin and banana to blueberry—because they’re versatile, easy to make ahead, and freeze well without losing flavor. With holiday brunches in mind, I found myself with some overripe bananas on the counter and decided to try a twist on classic banana bread. I made a Banana Chocolate Chip Bread that stays exceptionally moist thanks to one special ingredient that doesn’t overpower the banana: peanut butter.

I used Planters Creamy Peanut Butter, but crunchy would work just as well. The peanut butter adds richness and keeps the bread tender without turning it into a peanut-forward loaf. The result is a moist, flavorful bread that’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup ripe bananas mashed (approximately 2 bananas)
  • 1/3 cup creamy or crunchy Planters Peanut Butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup semisweet or milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the mashed bananas, peanut butter, brown sugar, sour cream, egg, and vanilla until smooth. Stir this wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined, then gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  5. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the loaf is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

If you’re looking for a peanut-butter-forward loaf, this isn’t that recipe. Instead, it’s a balanced, super-moist banana bread with a hint of peanut butter that enhances texture and depth without stealing the show. It’s ideal for holiday mornings, brunch gatherings, or an easy homemade gift.

If you prefer a stronger peanut taste, try spreading a layer of peanut butter on each slice—this bread pairs beautifully with extra peanut butter on top.
